Before submitting the online application for a specific program, applicants should review the individual program’s application process, admission requirements, deadlines, and transcript requirements. All required elements must be uploaded into the online application. Questions? Applicants should contact the academic program via email: scienceacademy@umd.edu.

Program-specific admission requirements and deadlines are pre-loaded upon entering the application portal and selecting the appropriate program and code.

Graduate Program Application

Program Code Information

  • Master of Professional Studies in Quantum Computing, In Person (MPQC).
  • Master of Science in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, In Person (SABI).
  • Master of Science in Data Science, In Person (SADS).
  • Master of Science in Machine Learning, In Person (SAML).

OPT and International Students

  • International students requiring an I-20 or DC-2019 can apply for a Master of Science program. Upon admission, international students are eligible for Optional Practical Training (OPT)
  • The University does not issue an I-20 or DC-2019 for graduate certificates.

Program Specific Requirements and Deadlines

Students who successfully complete requirements for the graduate certificate may apply these credits towards the master’s if the student applies and is admitted. 

  • If applying within a five-year period of completion, students do not need to re-submit accompanying application materials or pay the application fee.
  • Students who have submitted original transcripts for the graduate certificate should upload a Word Doc into the application that states official transcripts on file. 

These programs are self-support, such that tuition paid by an enrolled student directly supports the costs of instruction. The Golden Identification Program is not eligible.
