Tuition Rates

Undergraduate students, Maryland residents * $273 per credit*
Undergraduate students, non-residents $938 per credit
Graduate students, Maryland residents $471 per credit
Graduate students, non-residents $1,016 per credit

Determination of Residency Status for Admission and Tuition

Residency determinations are made according to the Board of Regents Policy on Student Residency Classification.

Application Processing Fee for New Students (one-time only)

Undergraduate $55.00 (non-refundable)
Graduate Students $60.00 (non-refundable)

Mandatory Student Services Fee

The University Mandatory Student Services fee is assessed one time for courses taken within each of the two six-week summer sessions. In addition to the per credit fee, undergraduate and graduate students are charged the University’s mandatory service fee at either the on-campus or the off-campus rate as follows:

On-campus Rate: Undergraduate and Graduate Students: $239

  • The on-campus mandatory student services fee pays for summer support services including campus facilities use and maintenance, health services, campus-wide technology services, student registration services, recreation center, shuttle bus, libraries, police, computer labs, writing language labs, and disability support services.

Off-campus Rate: Undergraduate and Graduate Students: $80.00

  • The off-campus mandatory student services fee is charged when students are registered for courses that do not require them to come to campus (e.g., internships, completely on-line courses). This fee pays for summer support services that include campus-wide technology services and student registration services.

A $100.00 Record Adjustment fee will be assessed for all changes to a student's Winter Term registration initiated on or after TBA. This includes late registration and/or withdrawals.

Other Fees

Special Course Fees:

A number of courses have special course fees in addition to, or in lieu of, the standard tuition charges. Students considering a course with a special charge are encouraged to contact that department prior to registering for the class to determine the total cost of the course. For more information about special course fees, check out the Undergraduate Catalog, the Graduate Catalog, or the Schedule of Classes on Testudo.

Library Charges:

In case of loss or mutilation of an item, satisfactory restitution will be made.

  • Regular Circulation: $0.50 fine per day for failure to return an item by expiration of loan period
  • Reserve Shelf: Fine for failure to return an item by expiration of loan period:
    • First hour overdue: $5.00
    • After first hour: $2.50 per hour for each additional hour
    • Maximum of $50.00 per item

Motor Vehicle Penalties:

These are described in Traffic Rules and Regulations and Parking Guide given to students when a parking permit is purchased.

Property Damage Charges:

Students will be charged for damage to property or equipment. Where responsibility for the damage can be fixed, the individual student will be billed for it; where responsibility cannot be fixed, the cost of repairing the damage will be pro-rated among the individuals involved.

Late Payment Fee:

Students who fail to pay the balance due on their account are subject to an initial late fee of 5% of the outstanding balance or $10.00, whichever is greater. A 1.5% finance charge is assessed each month thereafter.

Service for Dishonored Check Fee:

Payable for each check that is returned unpaid by the drawee bank on presentation because of insufficient funds, payment stopped, post-dating against uncollected items, etc.
