  • Fall semester: by June 1
  • Spring Semester: by December 1

Notification Process

The admission notification process at the University of Maryland adheres to the following timeline:

  • The academic unit makes recommendation of admission to the Graduate School.
  • The academic unit informs the student of the admission recommendation.
  • The Graduate School reviews all documents and application materials to ensure that minimum qualifications are met.
  • The Graduate School sends the official admission decision via e-mail provided in program application.

Intent to Enroll

Once the Graduate School provides the official admission decision, the Office of Extended Studies e-mails admitted students with instructions on setting up a University e-mail account, information for online course registration, and on graduate school policies and procedures. Should a student not register for his or her admission term, then the offer of admission is rescinded by the Graduate School and the student is automatically cancelled from the program.
