- For complete information on check-in, the welcome session, and Orientation Day, click here.
- Is attendance mandatory for all the program activities?
- All students are required to attend their course and the afternoon Kids for Peace workshops. Commuter students are dismissed after the afternoon workshop. Residential students are required to participate in all afternoon, evening and weekend activities.
- Is attendance mandatory for the evening and weekend events such as the game events, movies, Terp Zone, etc.?
- Residential students are required to attend all scheduled program-related activities. Commuter students are to be picked up daily prior to the start of the evening activities. Please note: Upon the completion of the program, we ask students to complete a survey. Over the past several years, these surveys demonstrate that those students who fully participated in the scheduled events were the ones with the highest satisfaction rating.

- Should I bring a laptop computer?
- Students do not need to bring laptops to campus for the program as there is a computer lab available on-campus for students to use. However some students choose to do so and find that it is helpful for working on assignments in their room at night. All resident halls and classrooms are setup for wireless network access. Wireless broadband internet access is provided through the University’s campus network. Students will need a device that has wireless connectivity to access internet using their directory ID and password to log in. Standards and computing needs will vary from individual to individual. For wireless network information, click here.
If you decide to bring your laptop, or any other expensive item, to the program it is your responsibility to exercise extreme care in securing and monitoring your belongings. We would also recommend backing up any information before arriving to campus and purchasing insurance to cover any theft, damage, accidents, etc. as the University will not be held liable.

- Is a telephone provided?
- No. There is a voice and data jack in each room for each residential student. You must either bring a phone from home (which can freely be used to make on-campus and local telephone calls) or a cell phone. To make long distance calls from a non-cell phone, you must have a telephone calling card. Incoming off-campus calls can be received without the use of a calling card.
- Will my room be cleaned daily?
- Rooms—bedrooms, common areas, and bathrooms—are cleaned before students' arrival and after their departure only. You can request basic cleaning supplies, or report any cleanliness issues upon move at the Service Desk or your mentors. Before checking out, you are expected to remove all trash to the outside receptacles.
- Can I do laundry?
- Residential students use the coin-operated laundry facilities located in or near their residential hall. You will need to bring your own detergent as well as quarters for the washers and dryers.
- What if I have a problem with a roommate or suitemate?
- We encourage students to talk to one another first concerning roommate problems. This is a valuable lesson for when they have a roommate in college. If you can't resolve the issue(s), you should speak to your mentor, who will help. If you do not bring any issues to the attention of our staff, we cannot help make your stay an enjoyable experience.
