MPS in Applied Economics & GC in Economic Analysis
To meet the increased demand for graduate-level economics professionals with solid quantitative skills and training in economic modeling, the University of Maryland’s Department of Economics offers working professionals the opportunity to select either the Master of Professional Studies (MPS) in Applied Economics or the Graduate Certificate in Professional Studies (GC) in Economic Analysis. Seminar-style, face-to-face instruction is offered evenings and weekends at 1400 16th Street, NW, Washington D.C. Online interaction, exercises, and feedback are designed to maintain student engagement between class meetings.
Both the MPS in Applied Economics and the GC in Economic Analysis offer courses using a twelve-week term format. Students apply for admission as a cohort for Term 1 (fall) or Term 3 (spring). The 30-credit, 10-course MPS in Applied Economics may be completed in 15 months by taking two, 3-credit courses per term. For a detailed plan of study, click here. The 15-credit GC in Economic Analysis may be completed in nine months without taking leave time from work by taking two, 3-credit courses during Term I and II and one, 3-credit course in Term III.
